  • 1890: Pharmacists Samuel Owen & Oscar Kress develop Glyco-Thymoline as a treatment for mucosity and oral hygiene.  Glyco-Thymoline soothes and heals nasal cavities and reduces irritations in the throat. 

  • 1894: Kress & Owen Company officially incorporates to manufacture and sell Glyco- Thymoline.  The soothing alkaline cleansing nature of Glyco-Thymoline establishes the mouth rinse as a “premier” product in hospitals and pharmacies.  Kress & Owen Company markets Glyco-Thymoline as the world’s first mouthwash.

  • 1900-05: Kress & Owen Company registers Glyco-Thymoline trademarks for expanding operations in the following countries:
  • 1904: Wisconsin Medical Journal - Remarks on Glyco-Thymoline by W.R.D. Blackwood, MD

  • 1905: Kress & Owen Company develops Glyco-Thymoline ointment for the treatment of burns, cuts, diaper rash, and other skinirritations. 

  • 1915: Kress & Owen Company introduces Glyco-Thymoline lozenges and toothpaste powder.

  • 1920: Physicians at the New York State Hospital use Glyco-Thymoline treatment in their Ear, Nose and Throat Department

  • 1920-50: The family owned business continues to grow and advertises in many nationwide newspapers and magazines such as Ladies Home Journal & Good Housekeeping.

  • 1940: Advertisement in Good Housekeeping magazine

  • 1952: Kress & Owen Company moves the Glyco-Thymoline manufacturing plant on Pearl Street New York, New York to a new modern facility in Middleton, New Jersey.

  • 1965-2006: William Lee Owen, President/Owner maintains the family business for 41 years.  Kress & Owen Company is committedto preserving the original 1894 formula for Glyco-Thymoline.    

  • 2007: The Owen Children ~Patti, Bob & Bill oversee operations for the family business.  “We look forward to helping you and your families live a Healthy Happy Life.”

  • 2008: Kress & Owen Company launches the Glyco-Thymoline web site and re-introduces the 100 year old “premier” oral hygiene product. We intend to get Glyco-Thymoline back in the local pharmacy, grocery and retail stores near you.  Our product has been recommended by dentists and physicians for over 100 years.
